At Wangaratta Primary School, all grade levels (Foundation to grade 6) study the Italian language.
Lessons are aimed at developing skills in speaking, listening to, writing and reading Italian. The activities vary depending on the grade level – but one thing remains ...it’s ok to make a mistake as we are all learning.
Children might work on a research task to explore a cultural or historical aspect like Pompeii, The Leaning Tower of Pisa or the 20 regions of Italy. Perhaps the task might involve topics such as colors, animals and numbers and be an art based activity. Whatever the topic, the aim is for the lesson to be enjoyable, interesting and for each child to gain something from it.
Being able to greet the teacher and say things about oneself is important and can be built on over the years by adding more developed ideas and phrases.
