Grade 3/4 at Wangaratta Primary School is a time for growth! Students are led towards independent learning and team work is a major focus. Students attend a two night, three day camp at Fifteen Mile Creek to develop these skills.
The children love developing their teamwork and independent learning skills through weekly Bluearth sessions.
Children of this age love to be active so we do an hour of sport each week and PE at least three times a week.
We also do a local excursion to support themes being studied in the classroom, such as a day in Beechworth learning about local history.
Students are fortunate to share a Netbook with another child. Programs such as ‘Mathletics’ and ‘Reading Eggs’ are used to develop literacy and numeracy skills. Netbooks are a great way to research information, present work and develop editing skills. The children love learning to create presentations.
Weekly homework tasks help establish independent work habits. Tasks are interesting and varied and relate to themes being studied in the class.
Each term we study a particular theme. This year we have studied environmental science, earth and space and Australian geography.
